I am Ulrike Firniss, EU Affairs Representative for Business Region Göteborg AB, a non-profit company that works to strengthen and develop trade and industry in the Gothenburg/ Sweden region. Our goal is to contribute to sustainable growth, a high level of employment and diversity in trade and industry in the region.
I am looking forward to learning more about the EBN methods and to share this knowledge with all my dedicated colleaques at home, who do their utmost to support business to achieve and maintain sustainable growth.
I hold a Bachelor degree in Business Management and a Master degree in Social Science and am a certified translator. I am native German. Been with Business Region Göteborg AB since 1998 in various business areas, such as head of the ICT sector and head of the Enterprise Europe Network (EEN).
My specialist experience lies in the building of clusters, where I have been a member of the Boards of Directors for Telematics Valley and Microwave Road, and Chairman of the Board for CHASE, a cluster for antenna technology at Chalmers University of Technology.
Another area of expertise lies within the Small Business Act. I was the Swedish National Expert 2106 and conducted policy analysis.
Göteborg is an active member of Euro Cities. Togehter with Lissabon and Barcelona, I chair the working group ”SME and Entrepreneurship”, comprising more than 40 cities. We have been elected for the third time!
Furthermore, I have for two years been part of an evaluation group for national grants for SMEs development of product and services, which gave deep insight in the needs of having good business plans.
Having worked as an Export Sales Manager in the security sector for seven years before going to the public sector, I am very well aware of the challenges and joys a SME is facing.
