Digital Nomads Madeira Islands is an initiative developed by the Regional Government of Madeira, Startup Madeira, and the expert digital nomad and consultant, Gonçalo Hall. Alongside our partners, this project aims to prepare, promote and create a unique community with digital nomads from all over the world. So far we’ve received over 13000 registrations, from 127 countries.
The year 2022 will be a disruptive year for information technologies and digitalisation. And, more than ever since the 1990s with the Third Industrial or Computer Revolution, ICT will have a positive impact on the economy, business, society, customs, habits, behaviours, norms, and laws. When supporting companies working with Industry 4.0 disruptive technologies, our experience tells us that there will be challenges related to commercialisation. Legal and industrial barriers to biosafety, food safety, and ethics, or if the technology breaks specific industry or cultural laws, are real challenges to be surpassed.
Progress of knowledge is essential for all communities. Around Europe, this is achieved with programmes and public investment in scientific projects and organisations. Yet, despite these efforts, only very few results stemming from such investments generate an impact outside the scientific community.
Without support from EU|BICs the market will not provide sufficient offers to Industry 4.0 disruptive technologies. Startups working with potentially disruptive technologies are too early, and too risky to be interesting for investors.

In 2021, the global community of Certified EU|BICs and Associate members grew to a total of +165 organisations in 30+ countries. 36,000 entrepreneurs, startups, scale-ups and SMEs are now supported by an EU|BIC. And this is not just because of a growing community with more EU|BICs and partners.
