The President of ANCES, Álvaro Simón, set out to His Royal Highness the mission of the BICs as support organisations for the creation and consolidation of innovative companies.
The hearing took place at the Zarzuela Palace in attendance of the President of ANCES, Álvaro Simón de Blas, also director of BIC Euronova in Malaga, and other members of the Board of Directors of the Association; Carlos Mayo, Eva Pando, Miguel Sánchez-Cossío, Pau Perdices, Iñaki Ortega y Juan Diego Casals; as well as former presidents : Jesús Casanova and Celia Oiz.
In his speech, the President of ANCEs (and of EBN) listed the most significant achievements of the Association that will celebrate its XX anniversary this year and which counts 29 BICs throughout Spain, supported by the European Commission and the EBN network at the European level. He also highlighted the leadership of in some innovative programmes in Spain, as for example the implementation of the EIBT (Innovative technology based companies) label, the BIOANCES programme for the creation of companies in the field of biotechnology or the academic spin off strategy for the creation of companies from universities.
Over the last 20 years ANCES has been acting as a major actor in the economic and entrepreneurship development, providing his support to the creation of over 35.000 companies, generating 102.000 jobs, coaching 136.000 entrepreneurs and hosting around 5.000 companies in the incubators of all the BICs in the Association.
Finally, Alvaro Simon invited His Royal Highness to chair the XXIII European Congress that EBN will organize in Lleida/Lerida at the end of June; insisting on the necessity to “continue to support innovative entrepreneurship as a mean to increase the competitiveness of our companies, contribute to overcome of the economic crisis as well as to generate employment and wealth in Spain”.
