Communication Assistant - Projects & Events

We are looking for a highly organised, young professional (1-3 year’s work experience) looking to develop and establish themselves in EU projects and event communication, with a focus on initiatives linking EU innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystems with stakeholders in Sub Saharan Africa.


The main responsibilities are as follows:

  • Work as part of the Project & Communication team supporting   key EU-funded projects (focus: Sub Saharan African) and EU|BIC Training Tracks
  • Assist in writing and distribution of online content and press material
  • Support the development of graphic design deliverables in collaboration with external agencies
  • Provide logistical and promotional support for online & offline events (e.g., content creation, speaker management, planning and meeting minutes)
  • Manage and monitor social media accounts
  • Report on event and project deliverables
  • General administrative tasks

We do not require applicants to meet a set level of experience but are instead looking for someone with an entrepreneurial mindset with strong coordination and people skills, who can learn quickly.

Preferred experience:

  • Understanding of EU-funded or international projects, including international cooperation and development projects
  • Understanding of the start-up world and the innovation ecosystem. Specific knowledge of Sub Sahara Africa is an asset
  • Customer/member-centric: capable of delivering results to meet partner expectations
  • Analytical with the ability to develop creative solutions to meet deadlines
  • Able to see the bigger picture whilst attentive to detail 
  • Equally able to work on own initiative as well as being an active team player
  • Preference for English native-level writing skills
