Having obtained a bachelor’s degree in radio-communication at the age of 18 years, Agnes Flémal graduated in Civil Engineering from the Polytechnic Faculty of Mons in 1984. She completed her education with a post graduate diploma in Business Law in 1988.
In 1984, she took over the family business APPARELEC in diversifying building electrical systems to intelligent systems automation. The company was sold in 1996 to the CFE Group. At the same time, she became the first vice-president of the Association of Engineers of Mons. (AIMs) She then created TECHPLUS, a company which designs and manufactures endoscopic vision systems at high temperatures, and exports them worldwide.
In 2002 she became General Manager of WSL (Wallonia Space Logistics), the high technology incubator in space and engineering sciences. In 2018, WSL oversees more than 100 start-ups and matures 20 new projects each year. WSL is now ‘the’ techno-entrepreneurs support in the French part of Belgium, including Living Lab (WeLL), engineering student incubator (Startech), labs in IoT (The Labs).
Agnes was also’ Consular’ Judge at the Tribunal de Commerce de Charleroi for 10 years and an expert at for the European Commission’s development of new technologies. She was also advisor for the Walloon Minister of Economy and Research in those fields.
