Dr David Hands is Course Leader for MA Design Management at Lancaster University. His areas of expertise include: design management, strategy and leadership; innovation within supply chain relationships; designing against crime thinking; design briefing; design policy analysis; and implementing technology transfer systems through design. He has completed doctoral research into embedding ‘crime resistant’ thinking and tools into the briefing process for both product and spatial designers.
David has written and published over 60 international academic papers and articles on a variety of design management topics. He was also the co-organiser for the successful D2B, the 1st International Design Management Symposium, held in Shanghai in March 2006. In 2012 David was appointed to the Conference Organising Committee for 'ServDes' Service Design and Innovation Conference - Imagination@Lancaster, 9-11 April 2014.
David is also co-author to the recently published book ‘Design Management: exploring fieldwork and applications’ by Routledge Taylor Francis, 2007. His latest book ‘Vision and Values in Design Management’ (2009) published by AVA is now on general release.
