Joe Greaney is the Director of WESTBIC, the long established EU Business Innovation Centre for Irelands BMW Region. He is currently the President of EBN and Chair of the Association of EU BICs in Ireland.
Joe is a regular policy contributor at both EU and National level on many aspects of Applied Innovation Support Services in the SME market and delivers technical support in the Entrepreneurship and Innovation `space` outside of the EU.
His areas of expertise include Entrepreneurship, Incubation, Private Equity Start-up Capital, Transnational Innovation Transfer, the Innovation Process in the SME market and the relevant institutional frameworks.
Joe is a fluent Gaeilgeoir (Gaelic Speaker) and an accomplished tutor and trainer at both under and post graduate levels (up to post-graduate level at NUI, Galway). Joe is also a Founding Director of the Galway Technology Centre, a leading ICT incubator and the Irish BICs Seed Capital Fund, the first Seed Capital Fund in Ireland and the Cross-Border BIC, a joint venture with Northern Ireland delivering economic development interventions in a post conflict context.
He is a Quality Auditor for the EU (DG Enterprise) quality and accreditation system for EU BICs and has delivered Applied Innovation technical support to government institutions throughout the EU and in non-EU countries including Lebanon, Jordan, Macedonia, Turkey and Ukraine. Joe has also served two Presidencies of Galway Chamber of Commerce and has served as a Director on the Council of the Chambers of Commerce of Ireland.
