Barcelona Activa S.A.

Barcelona Activa is Barcelona City Council’s Local Development Agency, its tool for designing and implementing its employment policies and plans for creating businesses. It is a joint-stock company using municipal capital, basically engaged in presenting projects in the various calls for tenders from competent Governments (the European Union, the Spanish State and the Generalitat de Catalunya) to carry out programmes which are in line with its corporate purpose. Barcelona Activa have become a referent at local, national and international level as regards local development policies, a benchmark endorsed by the recognition it has obtained (worldwide good practices, according to the United Nations Habitat programme, example of excellence in the creation of companies, according to the European Commission, or Urban Innovation award from Eurocities).
