Building business angels network in Kosovo
Archived project
This project started on Jan 01, 2022 to end on Dec 31, 2024.
The Kosovo BAN project addressed a critical access-to-finance gap within Kosovo's innovation ecosystem. Many startups in Kosovo struggled to secure early-stage funding and mentorship due to the absence of a structured framework for angel investing. The entrepreneurial ecosystem was fragmented, with limited collaboration between entrepreneurs, investors, government bodies, and support organisations.
Prishtina REA, supported by the Kosovo Ministry of Economy, partnered with EBN to establish a structured and sustainable Business Angels Network (BAN). EBN delivered a comprehensive capacity-building programme applying the EU|BIC Innovation Ecosystem Framework, with services covering ecosystem mapping, BAN governance and operational strategies, private investment attraction, human capital development, and the transfer of EU|BIC best practices.
The project engaged 15 stakeholders representing entrepreneurs, government bodies, academia, financial institutions, and support organisations. It established a governance framework for the BAN including decision-making processes, membership criteria, and operational guidelines. The initiative explored legal and organisational models tailored to Kosovo's regulatory environment and created mechanisms to connect startups with angel investors for capital and mentorship.
The project was developed in collaboration with Enterprise Europe Network Kosovo and ensured alignment with EU priorities including digital transformation and green innovation.
