4 EU|BICs working to foster digitalization of the maritime sector
EBN is proud of the collaboration and the work our members are carrying on to support innovative and smart entrepreneurs. Four EU|BICs, CEEI Asturias (ES), CorkBIC (IE), IPN (PT) and Laval Mayenne Technopole (FR), have joined forces to improve the operability and performance of Maritime Safety Training Centres (MSTCs) in the Atlantic territory.
Under the umbrella of AT-Virtual a project co-financed by the Interreg Atlantic Area Programme through the European Regional Development Fund and led by CEEI Asturias, our four EU|BICs together with other four partners enable businesses to develop emerging technology-based solutions to MSTCs needs in the field of simulation-based training systems for maritime security operations.
This project will improve Atlantic Area capacity, preparedness, resilience and incident response to maritime incidents and emergencies in Atlantic waters while fostering innovation and sustainable growth in businesses. To achieve this, MSTCs will become testing, piloting and demonstration sites of technology solutions to common needs identified in the Atlantic Area. The process of digitization will be carried out through a collaborative hybridization process, facilitating the cooperation between 3 MSTCs and startups who will act as digital enablers, supported by a research organization and I4.0 experts.
The website provides a diagnosis tool to allow the evaluation of the maturity level of digitalization and the analysis of existing needs of the MSTCs and it will also be very important in the management of calls and proposals and in the selection of the appropriate solutions and startups. In addition, the website will play a relevant role in the training, designing and prototyping, by providing access to webinars and documentation.
