JIC
JIC is a European innovation agency rooted in Brno and the South Moravian Region, helping ambitious founders and technology companies turn innovative ideas into globally successful businesses.
Since 2003, JIC has been supporting innovation, entrepreneurship and the growth of technology companies. Over more than 20 years, it has supported more than 1,300 companies and helped strengthen Brno and the South Moravian Region as one of the most dynamic innovation ecosystems in Central Europe.
JIC is established by the South Moravian Region, the City of Brno and Brno-based universities, whose long-term cooperation forms the foundation of the regional innovation ecosystem.
Today, JIC’s activities reach beyond South Moravia. It supports entrepreneurs and technology companies with European and global ambitions throughout the entire startup journey – from people exploring their first business idea and researchers commercialising their results to early-stage startups and established technology companies ready to scale internationally.
JIC focuses on three main groups:
Future Founders
JIC helps students, researchers and aspiring entrepreneurs explore entrepreneurship, validate their ideas and develop the skills needed to build a company. Its activities include mentoring, university programmes, startup meetups, support for research commercialisation and initiatives such as Empower and Founder Scholarships.
Early Stage Startups
Through JICbooster and related services, early-stage technology companies receive hands-on support with product-market fit, business development, market entry and investment readiness. Founders work with experienced entrepreneurs and experts and gain access to funding opportunities, investors and relevant business networks.
Scaleup Leaders
JIC supports founders and CEOs of ambitious technology companies as they grow internationally. Through individual guidance, experienced business leaders, international contacts and investor connections, JIC helps companies overcome key growth barriers, strengthen their management and expand into global markets.
JIC also plays an important role in connecting the innovation ecosystem of Brno and the South Moravian Region with partners across Europe and beyond. Its startup community brings together more than 700 active people, while its broader network includes more than 200 successful founders, experts and executives.
Through JICplus, meetups, masterminds and other peer-to-peer formats, entrepreneurs can openly exchange experience, build partnerships and access contacts and opportunities that support their growth.
Access to capital is another important part of JIC’s activities. JIC connects promising companies with angel investors and venture capital funds and also supports selected startups through JIC Ventures.
Beyond direct support for companies, JIC cooperates closely with universities, public institutions, investors, corporations and other innovation organisations. This collaboration has helped make Brno and the South Moravian Region internationally recognised for its strong concentration of technology companies, research institutions and entrepreneurial talent.
JIC believes that globally successful, high-value-added companies strengthen the economic resilience of regions and Europe as a whole while contributing to solutions for major societal and technological challenges.
By 2030, JIC aims to contribute to the creation of globally successful companies, major international scaleups and successful exits, increase the number of women leading startups, support the creation of new academic spin-offs and attract more investment into innovative businesses.
