BICRO BIOCentar
BICRO BIOCentar was founded in 2015 with the help of European Union funds, and was designed as an incubator that will lead the development of biotechnology in Croatia. In January 2020, BICRO BIOCentar received a license to carry out scientific activities.
BICRO BIOCenter operates through 5 programs:
- BIOIncubation and BIOInfrastruktur offer consulting services and rental of furnished or unfurnished spaces for laboratories and offices.
– BIONetworking enables new start-ups or existing biotechnology companies to connect with universities, faculties, institutes and companies in Croatia and abroad. Networking enhances product development and faster and more efficient commercialization.
– BIOTransfer and BIOEducation are carried out by our professional staff, specialized in the field of biotechnology and chemistry. The programs are carried out in the Central Laboratory, which consists of 5 laboratory units: Microbiology Laboratory , Cell Biology Laboratory , Isolation and Purification Laboratory , Bioanalytical Laboratory I-Chemistry , Bioanalytical Laboratory II-Proteomics . The Central Laboratory is where the entire process development and optimization takes place – from the production, isolation and purification of biological molecules, to quality control and testing of the resulting product on cell models. Each of the 5 units also offers additional services within its expertise, which are listed on the link for each laboratory. BIOEducation is organized for larger or smaller groups, and can also be specifically designed for an individual user. Topics related to chromatography techniques, bioprocess and protein engineering, or molecular biology methods are covered. BIOEducations are used by companies to train new employees, and also serve to upgrade the knowledge of students, scientists, or already established employees, and often help participants solve problems they encounter during their daily work in the laboratory.
The BICRO BIOCentre team consists of 21 employees, 19 of whom are highly educated, 5 of whom have a doctorate in science, and 1 of whom is pursuing a postgraduate doctoral degree. We highly value curious and ambitious people who are happy to present new ideas, are willing to collaborate, and approach the projects they work on responsibly.
