TREC-STEP
Founded in 1986, TREC-STEP is one of India's first Science and Technology Entrepreneurs Parks. Its mission is to advance science, technology, and innovation by cultivating an entrepreneurial spirit among India's youth, and supporting them in building knowledge-based ventures capable of competing in the global marketplace.
Based in Trichy, TREC-STEP sits adjacent to a thriving industrial estate that is home to over 450 fabrication industries, forming a world-renowned SME cluster. This combination of industrial depth and academic environment gives both the incubator and its resident companies a distinct advantage in developing and scaling knowledge-based businesses.
TREC-STEP's incubation programme offers a comprehensive suite of support for early-stage and innovative enterprises, including an idea-to-prototype innovation fund, early-stage seed funding, subsidised production facilities and nursery sheds, and hands-on mentoring — all tailored to the practical needs of young entrepreneurs at each stage of their growth.
As part of its broader mandate to make the benefits of science and technology accessible across all sections of society, TREC-STEP has built partnerships with leading international organisations including the UNDP, UNIDO, the European Commission, the World Bank, and the British Council, as well as national agencies and financial institutions across India. These collaborations support development initiatives focused on technology, entrepreneurship, and skills-based economic growth.
