José Martins, Portuguese born in 1953 is since 1997 the CEO of NET – Novas Empresas e Tecnologias, SA, the oldest Business & Innovation Centre of Portugal, founded in 1987 and situated in Oporto. He is EBN Accredited Evaluator for the attribution of the Quality Logo of new and existing BIC.
Was the responsible by NET for the organisation of the 10th European EBN Congress at Oporto in 2001. He participated in several workshops, seminars and congresses organised by EBN. In this activity he participated as organiser and speaker in a large number of national and foreign conferences and seminars and as author producing papers of themes like entrepreneurship, innovation, creation of technology based enterprises, cooperation and internationalisation.
Responsible by NET for the coordination and implementation of its several National and European Projects of cooperation, innovation and technology and the development and implementation of several tools and actions for new enterprises and SME. Under his direction, NET has conducted feasibility studies and evaluations of innovation centres in Portugal.
José is also an expert of technology-based incubators concepts and has a long experience in the assesment of new projects and management of new centres in Portugal and in Europe. Coordinator of several national and international projects with different partners of several European countries. Member of several regional and national commissions and of panel of experts in entrepreneurship, innovation and ideas contests for the creation of news enterprises. Member of the Board of several private companies.
