The impulse of Madrid Emprende in the creation of companies
Ten years after their creation, Madrid Emprende has a track record of 1.437 trainings and 11.446 businesses created. 68% of these since June 2011, at the hardest moment of crisis", declared Ana Botella, Mayor of Madrid during the celebration of their 10th anniversary.
Companies such as About International Media representing international media such as the New York Times or the Herald Tribune; Biddus, online purchase portal or NEVEREMPTY, an app for football ticket sales, are good examples of successful practical projects (check the video with entrepreneurs testimonials below).
"The fact that we have over 100.000 entrepreneurs in Madrid ", makes us one of the highest concentrations of start-ups in Europe, according to the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM)", highlights Ana Botella.
During the last years, Madrid Emprende extended their field of action to foreign startups and multilateral organisations. At the end of 2011, they opened the Madrid International Lab, which further to the big project of an incubator network also meant a qualitative jump in the internationalization strategy of Madrid. A space dedicated to the attraction of investors but also foreign talents and which helps startups in Madrid to Project outside of their borders.
